About

Emma Henrike Ebmeyer is a composer based in Salzburg, Austria and Hamburg Germany. Her work focuses on immersive textures built from reduced material, which transforms gradually over time. Most of her work features acoustic instruments, while she also enjoys writing live electronics and fixed media pieces. She has also participated in creating installations. 

Emma’s compositions have been played across three continents by ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Cantando Admont, NAMES, Neoquartet, and OENM. Her electronic works have been showcased in diverse settings, including the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, ZKM Karlsruhe and as part of installations. Emma has actively participated in renowned festivals such as Mixtur, outHear New Music Week, Suena and Limina. Emma has visited reading sessions with LUX:NM, Luope, Ensemble n and the Swedish radio choir. 
Also, She has attended classes, lectures and workshops with prominent composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Mark André, Annesly Black, Sarah Nemtsov, Johannes Maria Staud, Katharina Rosenberger, Pierluigi Billone, Frédéric Durieux and Sam Auinger. 

In 2025 she was a finalist for the Ö1 Talentbörse Kompositionspreis, which led to Ö1 broadcasting a radio Portrait of her. She was awarded the "Leistungsstipendium" of the Mozarteum University in 2024 and 2025. From 2023 to 2025 she has been a scholarship recipient of the "Stiftung Benno Kittl". 

Emma Ebmeyer was born in Hamburg Germany where she started taking composition lessons at the age of eight. Later she continued under Dr. Arvid Ong. From 2020 to 2024, Emma pursued a bachelor’s degree in composition at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, studying with Kurt Estermann, Achim Bornhöft, and Laure Hiendl. She is enrolled in the Master’s program at the same institution, continuing her studies with Achim Bornhöft. Currently she is spending an Erasmus year in Stockholm, Sweden studying with Per Martesson.
